The re- election bid of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan , yesterday, in Kano, received a remarkable boost as a coalition of interest groups, students of different tertiary institutions, market women, artisans and farmers endorsed his return to the Presidency.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Schools to Agriculture Programme, Dr Baraka Sani, who spoke at the ceremony stressed that President Goodluck Jonathan is a lover of Nigerian Muslims and has been protecting their interests in the affairs of the country.
“From the religious point of view, the Jonathan Administration has shown huge respect for our faith and belief, including attending to issues that affect us as Muslims with speed and dispatch,” she stated.
She reminded the audience of, “the recent diplomatic breakthrough that saw the Nigerian Muslims performing their hajj obligations in Saudi Arabia despite the incident of a few cases of Ebola virus in the country”.
“Jonathan, in yet another remarkable intervention, played a vital role in the resolution of the hajj controversy, a few years ago, in which some Nigerian pilgrims were deported from Holy Land by the Saudi authorities.
“I need not tell you that President Jonathan is a lover of Muslims in Nigeria in all ramifications. When we fasted during the Holy month of Ramandan , he fasted along with us and when we prayed, he prayed even more fervently for our wellbeing.”said the convener of the event
She therefore charged the people of Kano State to vote en mass for President Jonathan on March 28, noting that his administration represents peace, progress and unity even as she remarked that the administration has performed creditably well in all spheres of human endeavour.
